He was brilliant in that Tony Grounds drama. He and Annette Crosbie acted the others off the screen.

Message on main fansite page today.

Message from the Cole Family to all George's fans:

George Cole's family would like to thank everyone for their kind messages at this sad time. George would have been bowled over by the reaction from all over the world. The family would like to apologise to anyone who has sent photographs to be signed. A large amount of fan mail dating back to March reached us only 10 days ago by which time George was too frail to sign pictures, however he did read the letters and greatly enjoyed them. We will endeavour to return all photographs over the coming weeks.

Many thanks Penny, Tara and Toby Cole.

One of the greatest...from st Trins to the quite brilliant Minder.

His memory will live on forever on film.

Re: George Cole dead
As an orphan, he was adopted by Alistair Sim, who was probably Britain's greatest comic actor and you could easily see his influence on Cole.

Great great actor and a lovely bloke (was known by my family).

RIP.

Re: George Cole dead
Was also in an episode of The Sweeney.
Looked a bit odd with George Cole and Dennis Waterman as you associate them with Minder.

Re: George Cole dead
What a great actor. Minder was without doubt one of the best programmes ever made. They still run the repeats noe on ITV 4
Every time I watch one I still to this day marvel at the acting skills of Cole. He played the role superbly.

RIP Arthur
